Narwhals are mammals, they are related to dolphins, orcas, and beluga whales. Their scientific name is Monodon monoceros. Male narwhals can be identified by a long spiral tooth protruding from their lip. Females with horns have been sighted, also males with two horns. They are carnivorous, they feed mainly on fish, shrimp, and squid. Narwhals feed during the winter and return to the same feeding spot each winter.
Narwhals live in the arctic waters and have been known to travel to Greenland and Canada. They are know to be quite slow but can be very fast if they are pursued by predators. They are hunted by people for the male's tooth (people sell them as unicorn horns), they're also preyed on by orcas and polar bears. The only people who can legally hunt narwhals are the Inuit tribes.
I hope this helped you learn more about narwhals and how they are threatened.
